State Ports Training

Since approximately 1990 and as a consequence of a governmental decision, the regulation for the handling, storage and transport of dangerous goods fell to the State Ports Authority as it was not considered to be a competence attributable to the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy.

Today, this professional training is still under the protection of RD 145/1989, which regulates the transport and training required to exercise this profession:

Its qualification is known as “Training for the Handling of Dangerous Goods for Dock or Terminal Operators” and its Certificate must be endorsed by the State Ports Authority.

Stier Training Centre is approved by Puertos del Estado to give the courses of Professional Training for the Handling of Dangerous Goods: Basic Level, Port Components (10h) and Higher Level, Dock or Terminal Operator (40h).
