Fred’s new sea route. Olsen Express, intended for the transport of goods, made its first trip this Wednesday, May 15, from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. A departure that marked the beginning of the regular activity of the Bentayga Cargo ship, which has six weekly trips to connect Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; Arrecife, in Lanzarote and Puerto del Rosario, in Fuerteventura.

In this way, the shipping company fulfills its commitment to continue guaranteeing connectivity and island supply, by offering this transportation alternative with optimized schedules based on customer needs. A ship that, being intended for cargo, ensures 100% availability of its capacity even on dates of high passenger demand.

For the head of Fred’s cargo department. Olsen Express, Juan Jesús Dionis, “the beginning of this route represents a before and after in cargo transportation in the archipelago. With it, we can offer our clients a personalized transportation alternative, which adapts to their needs and with which they can optimize their resources, since they have the possibility of transporting their load units unhitched, without the need for tractor heads (chutos) or drivers who make the trip, being able to pick up the merchandise directly at the ports of the destination by coordinating with us for stowage.” From Sunday to Friday, the Bentayga Cargo ship will leave the port of Las Palmas at 9:00 p.m. to dock in Arrecife (Lanzarote). Once there, she will depart Lanzarote at 6:00 to Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura), from where she will head to Gran Canaria at 11:00.

This RORO type vessel has a load capacity of 1,800 linear meters and 9,000 tons. She has more than 160 meters in length, two transverse propellers for maneuvering and a maximum speed of 20 knots. The Bentayga Cargo is prepared to transport different types of merchandise, including dry goods, those that require temperature control, dangerous goods or those that are considered special because they are larger than the standard size or weight.
