To be eligible for this certification, a minimum period of 1 year of onboard experience is required, evenly distributed between 6 months in the bridge area and 6 months in the engine room area.

Target Audience

Anyone who has completed the Basic Safety Training Course and aspires to work in professional roles aboard port vessels and/or improve their job prospects.

Objective

To train the student to assume command on civilian vessels not exceeding 100 GT, carrying a maximum of 150 passengers, and navigating in accordance with the conditions and limitations established by current regulations.

Mod 5 – Navigational contingencies and accidents

Mod 6 – Ship handling and control

Mod 8 – Equipment for loading/unloading and cargo stowage

Mod 9 – Holds

Mod 10 – Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS)

Mod 11 – Search and rescue (IAMSAR)

Mod 12 – International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea

Mod 13 – Passenger and crew control in emergency situations

Mod 14 – Fire prevention and fighting

Mod 15 – Abandonment of the vessel and survival equipment

Mod 16 – Environmental protection

Mod 17 – Occupational health and safety on board

Mod 18 – Maritime health

Mod 19 – Engine Section: Theoretical and Practical Knowledge

Qualification

Certificate approved by the Directorate General of the Merchant Marine (DGMM) and the Ministry of Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda (MITMA).
