Stier Training Centre

Stier Training Centre is strategically located in the port of Taliarte, a short, 8km drive from the airport of Gran Canaria, surrounded by several research and Project Development faculties of the University of LAS PALMAS de GC and PLOCAN.

3000 m2 of modern outdoor facilities allow for safe and practical training for the O&G, Wind and maritime/port sectors.

The Centre consists of:

A Central aquatic unit with a 3m deep pool, an helicopter simulator and a Davit with a Lifeboat where various exercises are carried out, be it: the evacuation of a helicopter in the event of an emergency forced sea landing, an helicopter rescue of shipwrecked or injured people at sea, the freefall of a lifeboat to the sea, as well as all other exercises on matters of emergency and safety in the water.

An “Escape Chute” slide type evacuation system that allows evacuating a platform in danger to a life raft at sea without touching the icy waters.
Fire Extinguishing training is practiced in our ¨Fire field¨, using various types of extinguishers depending on the product that caused the fire. Fire hoses and available ¨confined spaces¨ simulation terrain allow us to carry out training for rescue and evacuation manoeuvres from buildings on fire and smoke.

A tower Scaffold is used to practice Working at Height, a discipline necessary for working in the wind industry and aerial rods, alongside Survival at Sea for the Offshore, cargo handling and other disciplines and safety practices necessary for the sector.
A designated classroom plus open space is used for first aid simulations, drills and practice in various scenarios like “air disaster”, terrorist attacks or any other emergency that involves organization and attention to care for the sick and injured.
Work and training area simulating the loading and unloading of pipes, and other heavy pieces as required by the oil and wind industry.
Comfortable changing rooms & toilets and last but not least a quiet canteen where you can enjoy moments of rest and relaxation.
