The importance of fighting marine pollution: training and action to protect our oceans

Marine pollution is one of the most serious threats to the health of our oceans. Every year, tonnes of waste, chemicals and oil are dumped into the sea, severely affecting biodiversity, fisheries, tourism and coastal communities. Combating this problem requires a combination of awareness, effective policies, appropriate technology and, above all, trained personnel to act quickly and effectively in the event of an incident.

In this context, specialised training becomes essential. At Grupo Stier, we offer our Marine Pollution Prevention and Response Course, designed to provide a solid foundation in maritime safety and emergency response. This programme prepares professionals to face real marine pollution situations, providing them with the necessary tools to act efficiently and minimise environmental impact.

In addition, the Grupo Stier, through its Stier Training Services centre, located in Taliarte, Gran Canaria, provides high quality training and career guidance to empower the next generation. Our aim is to provide them with the knowledge, skills and competencies they need to defend themselves in an increasingly demanding and competitive maritime market, while contributing to the protection of the marine environment.

The skills acquired in this course are not only crucial in case of oil spills or hazardous spills, but also strengthen the culture of prevention and environmental awareness within the maritime sector. Through simulations, theory and practice, participants develop key competencies to protect the marine environment and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Protecting the oceans is a shared responsibility. We, in the maritime sector, can and must be an active part of the solution. Committing to training and preparation means taking a firm step towards a cleaner and safer sea.
