A great Training Day

Stier Group Training Centre is the premier training centre in the Canary Islands and regionally, we can provide a wide range of safety courses aligned to the oil and gas, renewable energy, industrial and maritime sectors. The training centre holds globally recognised approvals from the Oil and Petroleum Industry Training Organisation, The Global Wind Organisation and The Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping as set by the International Maritime Organisation.

Staff at the Stier Group Training Centre gathered for a staff training and development day. The purpose was to allow staff from administration, maintenance and head office to experience the world class training provided by our instructors. This is so we can all better understand what our clients experience and therefore provide our clients with the best customer experience possible from booking a course to receiving their certificates. The session was run by our most experienced instructors and support staff.

The day started with emergency first aid and occupational hazards training to ensure staff can deal with any circumstances that may arise at the centre to provide a safe environment to our clients.

Staff then entered our helicopter simulator to learn how to safely escape from a helicopter which has ditched into the sea. The first exercise was quite easy but then the helicopter was “capsized” which meant our wonderful staff had to escape whilst upside down and strapped into their seats with harnesses! Our professional safety divers were on hand to ensure everyone escaped.

We also performed a Medical Emergency Response exercise which the staff did not know was going to happen. The exercise involved caring for someone who had hurt their back from diving into the pool; our superb instructors and support staff handled the emergency perfectly.

To exchange experiences and have a good time together, part of the Stier Group team ended the day with an aperitif and relaxed chats.

Teamwork activities have become an essential part of the corporate culture. In today’s world, if a company needs to prosper, the first and most important requirement is to build a culture of teamwork within the organisation. When all employees collaborate, work cohesively and come together, we can say that the business is moving in the right direction.

That’s why the Stier Group takes every possible measure to bring teams together. And teamwork dynamics play a very important role in this process. The aim is to make employees feel closer and get to know each other better.

Team building is a technique consisting of a series of activities designed to foster communication, trust between team members and cooperation. This includes the activities carried out at the Stier Group Training Centre, but also extends to team projects. The ultimate goal is for team members to work together more effectively and improve their ability to solve problems and make decisions together.

The Stier Group has applied techniques, in different work periods, related to group experience and managing to compact teams. In fact, professionals such as Juan Ferrer, expert in change management, trainer and coach have accompanied this company in the necessary evolution process, within the structures of the different departments of the company.

All of them have had the opportunity to get to know each other better, something they have been able to make the most of. Team building sessions build trust and mutual respect, which can improve conflict resolution in any team and reduce tension.

Moments like these represent a valuable tool for the human resources department of any company, improving team performance and efficiency. Something that the Stier Group applies.
