GWO BST ONSHORE AND OFFSHORE

The Global Wind Organization (GWO) BST (Basic Safety Training) course is essential training for workers in the wind industry, both onshore and offshore. It is designed to provide participants with a solid foundation in safety and critical skills for working on wind farms. The key aspects of GWO’s BST training for both onshore and offshore workers are described here.

Secure your professional future with GWO (Global Wind Organization) professional competence certification.

Target group

Global Wind Organization (GWO) courses are aimed primarily at workers and professionals who have roles in the wind industry. These courses are designed to provide the skills and knowledge necessary to perform their work safely and efficiently in both onshore and offshore wind farm environments. Typical recipients of GWO courses include:

  1. Maintenance Technicians: These courses are essential for technicians who perform maintenance on wind turbines and other equipment in wind farms. They will learn work at height skills, rescue techniques, safety at work and first aid procedures specific to the wind industry.
  2. Construction workers: People involved in wind farm construction, such as tower erectors, welders and crane operators, benefit from GWO training. They will learn how to perform their tasks safely and how to work at heights.
  3. Wind farm operators and supervisors need knowledge of work safety, rescue procedures and first aid to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  4. Search and rescue personnel: In wind farms, it is important to have personnel trained in high altitude rescue techniques and rescue from elevated environments. These GWO courses are designed to equip these people with the necessary skills to perform rescues safely.
  5. Safety personnel: Safety professionals in the wind industry, including safety and occupational health managers, benefit from GWO training to understand and apply best safety practices in this specific work environment.
  6. It is important to note that, due to the nature of the wind industry and its inherent risks, GWO training is a common requirement in many companies in the sector. In addition, some employers may require contractors and subcontractors working on wind projects to have GWO certifications to ensure the safety and competence of their personnel.
Requirements

The student must be in good physical shape and not exceed 120kg in weight. In addition, you must be registered on the WINDA platform.

Objective

Its main objective is to prevent accidents at work by training and educating the Trainees in emergency and safety at work considering the difficulty and danger involved in this profession.

Content/Modules

It is worth mentioning that the contents vary according to the type of course, for onshore workers it consists of the four modules mentioned below:

  1. GWO First Aid: You will learn the skills necessary to provide basic medical care in emergency situations.
  2. GWO Fire Fighting: You will master the techniques to control and extinguish fires safely and effectively.
  3. GWO Load Handling: You will learn how to handle loads safely and efficiently, reducing the risk of injury.
  4. GWO Working at Heights: You will learn best practices for working safely at heights, minimising the associated risks.

There is a fifth module for offshore personnel, which must be taken together with the four modules mentioned above:

  1. GWO Offshore Survival enables you to work on floating or offshore wind farms, further expanding your career opportunities in the renewable energy sector.

This would be the only difference, as both share all the content.

Modalities

On-site.

Qualification

Our GWO certification is obtained by successfully passing all the modules that make up the Basic Safety Training Course (Basic Safety Training) in its onshore (onshore) or offshore (offshore) modalities. This certification is an internationally recognised standard and can open doors to a wide range of career opportunities. It is valid for two years and must be updated with the appropriate refresher courses thereafter.
