About COurse

Aim

The aim of the Advanced Training in Fire Fighting is to provide the training in advanced fire fighting in accordance with Section A-VI/3 of the STCW Code. The emphasis of the training is in organization, tactics and command.

Target audience

This course is designed to seafarers who have completed basic training fire prevention. This training form part of the competence required of all officers.

Training programme

Mod. 1 Control fire-fighting operations aboard ship.
Mod. 2 Organize and train fire parties
Mod. 3 Inspect and service fire detection and extinguishing systems and equipment
Mod. 4 Investigate and compile reports on incidents involving fire

Encouraged participation of delegates with interaction by questioning, practical exercises, videos and simulations.

Delegates pre-requisites

Those undertaking this course must have completed the basic training in fire prevention.

Physical and stressful demands

Training activities contained within the IMO standards may include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who participate must be physically and mentally capable of participating fully. The Centre shall keep a record of the delegate’s/candidate’s declaration of fitness in accordance with their document control policy or procedures.

Certificate

Advanced Training in Fire Fighting issued by Harbour Master, Ministry of Development.
